my training philosophy
I am committed to using humane, force-free, and effective dog training methods that are both easy to understand and enjoyable for you and your dog. The training methods that I employ are science-based and are the safest and most successful methods available to modify behavior. I believe that the relationship you have with your four-legged friend(s) should be fun, include mutual trust, and love for one another. If the training with your dog isn’t enjoyable for you, it probably isn’t enjoyable for your dog either. I enjoy working with dogs of all breeds, ages, sizes, and personalities. I especially enjoy working with new puppies and their parents to ensure that training and socialization get started on the right track.
Private Training
Private training involves you and I working together to achieve your dog’s training goals. These goals can vary from potty training your brand new puppy to helping your adult dog learn to stop jumping up on guests. Depending on what we’re working on, I’ll meet with you (either at home or elsewhere) and provide one-on-one coaching and support to ensure that you and your dog are both successful.
puppy preparation
Whether you’re a first-time puppy owner, or you haven’t owned a puppy in many years, this is the service for you! I’ll meet with you to discuss and answer any preliminary questions, verify that your home is puppy-proofed, provide a supplies list of everything you’ll need for your puppy’s arrival, and ensure that you feel prepared to succeed from the moment your puppy arrives in their new home.
Day Training
Day training involves your dog and I working together to achieve your training goals while you are at work, school, or otherwise unable to participate in training. Day training is a great option for anybody with a busy schedule, but especially for new puppy parents who need midday relief for their puppies. Day training includes a biweekly catch-up meeting that allows your dog to show off all of their new skills.
adventures
After being picked up from your home, your dog (and the other dogs in our group) will head to one of Portland’s many off-leash dog parks for an hour of running, playing, chasing, sniffing, and all-around fun! In addition to the exercise your dog will receive, I will include plenty of recall practice and appropriate play management. My adventures are limited to no more than six dogs, and groups are separated by size.
Board and Train
My board and train program takes place in my home where your dog will be treated like a member of my family. Your dog will receive two to three hours of goal directed training, exercise, socialization, and skills transfer practice every day. You will receive regular training updates, a thorough progress report, and follow up training instructions. Consider this is a friendlier and more successful version of doggy boot camp.

what to expect
If you’re interested in private or day training, we’ll begin with a consultation which typically lasts about 90 minutes. This time allows me to gather the necessary information about you, your dog, their history, and your training goals. During our consult we will also start developing a training and management plan best suited for you and your dog’s needs and abilities. Some training scenarios may only require one session, while others may require several in order for your goals to be achieved. Please contact me for more information.

RATES
Private training and day training are billed at $120/hour. Packages of 3, 5, and 10 sessions are available for a discounted cost.
Board and train stays are billed at $175/day.
